US Presidential focus on scaling and expanding apprenticeships.
US momentum to exponentially expand apprenticeships.
The ApprenticePath team is excited and delighted to see the momentum in the US around the apprenticeships program. To our delight our vision and mission are aligned to the ambitious Presidential focus on scaling and expanding the apprenticeships in the US. The stars are indeed aligned 😊.
US President Biden has taken many steps to bolster the apprenticeships programs. As per the White House, Feb 17, 2021, statement, “ Today, President Biden is affirming his commitment to expanding registered apprenticeships to reward work, rebuild the middle-class, and connect a diverse workforce to family-supporting, living wage jobs.”
Reinstating the National Advisory Committee on Apprenticeships: President Biden has reinstated the DOL’s National Advisory Committee on Apprenticeships (ACA), which will include diverse stakeholders representing both labor and management. The Advisory Committee will focus on expanding apprenticeship access, including for people of color, immigrants, and women.
Endorsing the National Apprenticeship Act: The bipartisan National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, endorsed in Feb 2021 by President Biden, is expected to create, and expand registered apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, and pre-apprenticeship programs. Specifically, the bill will create nearly 1 million new apprenticeship opportunities, with a focus on drawing in a diverse workforce.
The American Jobs Plan: On March 31, 2021, a white house fact sheet titled, “ The American Jobs Plan” outlined an ambitious agenda to reimagine and rebuild a new economy. Invest in Workforce Development: As more Americans rejoin the workforce or seek out new opportunities in a changing economy, there is a greater need for skills development opportunities for workers of all kind. In order to ensure workers, have ready access to the skills they will need to succeed, and to improve racial and gender equity, President Biden is calling on Congress to invest $100 billion in proven workforce development programs targeted at underserved groups and getting our students on paths to careers before they graduate from high school.
We are keenly following all the above exciting developments and have volunteered to actively contribute, and value add to this effort! We will keep you posted on our progress!
