Next generation online Cybersecurity education – 21st century Earn and Learn Cyber Apprenticeship!

The recent attacks on JBS and Colonial Pipeline has highlighted how menacing cyber-attacks have become and cybersecurity’s criticality. The Purdue University’s Cyber Apprenticeship Program (P-CAP) , one of its kind, is a next generation program that serves as new model for cybersecurity education and employment. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration’s four-year $12 million grant, the P-CAP focuses on creating cybersecurity apprenticeships to help fill a growing need for cybersecurity professionals.

P-CAP aims to create 5,000 new highly qualified personnel in cybersecurity through multiple pathways including certifications, as well as two and four-year degree programs. It provides an opportunity for unemployed, incumbent underrepresented minorities, veterans, military spouses, transitioning service members, and underemployed workers to participate. Students can participate through an online program and receive their degrees through Purdue Global, an accredited online university with the first and only cybersecurity apprenticeship approved by the Department of Labor.

In the P-CAP, you work for an employer that pays for your education while you gain paid industry experience and training. When you complete the program, you will have earned an associate degree in IT, a Bachelor of Science degree in computer and information science majoring in cybersecurity, or a Master of Science in cybersecurity and trusted systems. Additionally, you will have opportunities to sit for various industry recognized certifications, earn other specialty certificates, and earn a Purdue Leadership Academy certificate—all without accumulating student debt and while earning a paycheck.

This program is led by Purdue University in partnership with North Carolina State University’s Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, and other industry stakeholders and partners.

You do not have to choose between going back to school and getting a job. How cool is that!
